AllyRey Photography is now officially Portland Photo Company.
Changing the name has proven to be a little confusing, but well worth it. I've merged with local photographer, Liz Donnelly Photography to form Portland Photo Co. We are seasoned photographers with an eye for stunning modern images.

New England Wedding Photographer | Full Lauren & Peter Wedding
Category: Maine, Southern Maine Wedding Photographer, wedding
It's not often I have the time to blog the best parts of a whole wedding. It's usually a handful of my immediate favorites. But I really spend weeks looking at, looking back at, editing, going over them again, and polishing. Anything to add a tiny bit of magic. And then I have a full wedding, hundreds of photos that I am very proud to give as a gift to my brides/grooms. This is a glimpse of a little more details of Lauren & Peter's adorable wedding. Enjoy!

Southern Maine Wedding Photographers | Lauren & Pete
Category: Southern Maine Wedding Photographer, wedding
When Lauren contacted me about her wedding at the Andover Country Club in Massachusetts, I knew I had to go. She was such an organized bride that the day flowed perfectly. Lauren and her girls were staying in a room there, but they had the Bridal Suite to get ready in. When I arrived it was full of makeup, curling irons, dresses, shoes and a lot of beautiful girls. The excitement in the room was electric as they jammed out to Pandora on an iHome. Lauren's idea to do a "first look" was all her own, and I couldn't have been happier to participate. We set it up to be picture-perfect. And the love between these two was very apparent. AllyRey Photography wishes you the best life and the happiest ever after.
Congratulations!

Panoramic in Photoshop | Maine Wedding Photographers
Category: AllyRey Photography Products, photoshop, Southern Maine Wedding PhotographerThere is often a need to turn multiple photos into one photo, and I do that using Photoshop. I use CS4, so I'm not sure exactly where the options are for newer or older versions. But here's what I do.
I snap photos in all directions. Usually, I take up to 12 at a time (4 across the top, middle and bottom). For this wedding, I just wanted a pano of the reception tent. So I set my exposure in manual, locked focus on manual (so it didn't change) snapped three photos in a row.
I open Photoshop, go to File-Automate-Photomerge.
This box opens, I use "Auto" for the layout and then use Browse to find my files. Click OK and it does a ton of work. It takes a minute or so (2-3 for 12 photos). Then it opens one file, with layers for each image. Each layer has a mask that seamlessly blends that photo into the others.
You can adjust the masks, or flatten and make your regular edits. I had a lot of sky and grass to fill, then I upped my saturation and fixed my white balance.
And Voila!

I'm proud (so so so proud) to announce that there have been some big changes happening for AllyRey Photography!
If you haven't already noticed, my "About Me" is now an "About Us". I've teamed up with another photographer- my mentor and one of my best friends Liz! Liz owns Liz Donnelly Photography and has been in the biz for a long time. She has a strong following in the dog world, where she has a dog-whisperer-like talent at making dogs sit, stay, smile.
As if that isn't exciting enough, we're proud to announce that we will be booking studio sessions (as well as on-location ones) starting immediately, in our new STUDIO. We've found the perfect place in Portland to call our home.
Follow my (and her) blog for before/after pics of the new studio and leave us some love on Facebook! Thank you, as always, for your amazing support.
